WHAT IS PILATES?
Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being. Pilates concentrates on posture, alignment, balance and flexibility. Due to the slow and controlled pace the chance of injury is much lower than with other more strenuous forms of exercise. There is also a connection through the mind and body which is practiced through breath control. Pilates can be really beneficial for those who suffer with back pain due to its emphasis on core control and pace of the class. Other benefits of Pilates are improved muscle tone, flexibility, mobility, reduced stress, increased blood circulation and gentle weight loss.
Fiona Zelley is our Pilates teachers and she is very keen to share her love and passion for exercise with you through Pilates. Fiona believes being at ease and relaxed with your trainer is critical to a successful training plan. Exercise should be fun and enjoyable.
Fiona is a qualified Pilates teacher and personal trainer with years of experience delivering group classes and private sessions. Fiona is also now a pre & postnatal Pilates specialist.
Fiona has worked with many people who have all benefited enormously from Pilates. Some of her private clients have seen improvements with ease of getting up off the floor and others have seen large amounts of pain relief.
