About the Course
Postnatal Yoga is the perfect way to ease back into exercise, to start to knit the body back together and begin to feel like yourself again. Our classes focus on looking after mums with mindful movement and breathwork whilst tending to babies with songs, play and massage. Whether you are an experienced yogi or brand new to yoga these classes are warm and welcoming to everyone.
In our classes we aim to do as much of a gentle yoga flow practice as possible so to support mums recovery through movement. The poses we look at are designed to help re build strength throughout the body but more specifically the core muscles and pelvic floor. We also encourage the body to open up through flowing stretches and seated static stretches, there's a lot of focus on mobility and stretching out tight muscles from carrying babies.
Whilst the focus is on mums, babies are involved throughout the class. Babies lay on blankets at the end of your mat so whilst you are moving they can watch, receive little tickles or play with the scarves. We always have play mats out, baby gyms and toys for when they need a little something extra. We often include babies into the movements and poses such as bringing them up for tree pose, we sing songs and play with babies and they even get a little bit of baby massage.
